September in Room 203

We begin our new school year together by building community in the classroom. This is done during class meetings. Class Meetings: We start by learning about the skills of communication including eye contact, facial expression, voice volume, greetings, and respect. Class meetings occur daily in September. During class meetings, we also learn about and discuss, Judicious Discipline: Rights and Responsibilities, Multiple Intelligences: How each of us learns best, and rules for safety at Jefferson School. Other units of study during September: Bus Safety, Social and Emotional Health,  Unit 1 Reading Strategies-Analyzing Story Structure, Character Traits, Unit 1 Math-Routines, Number Sense Cursive writing letters with upward strokes Introduction to Writer's Workshop
